The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology – Hans Knöll Institute (Leibniz-HKI, www.leibniz-hki.de) investigates the pathobiology of human-pathogenic fungi and identifies targets for the development of novel natural product-based antibiotics. The Junior Research Group Biobricks of Microbial Natural Product Syntheses invites talented and highly gifted students to apply for a position as

student assistant (f/div/m) Microbial Synthetic Biology

Topic: Microbial Synthetic Biology

Plants and microorganisms produce an inestimable number of natural products (NPs), many of which have found broad applications. The mission of the Junior Research Group Biobricks of Microbial Natural Product Syntheses (BMN) at the Leibniz-HKI is to face the decline of available active compounds for medical, agronomical and industrial applications by discovering novel molecules and designing novel ways for compounds’ production.

We offer:

Project-related work within the topic “Heterologous Production of Secondary Metabolites”. Lab work will be supervised by PhD students. Applicants should be interested in microbial Synthetic Biology and have good practical knowledge in microbiology, molecular biology and/or biochemistry (preferred students studying Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or Microbiology). Besides good knowledge and skills we expect excellent abilities to work in an international team.

As an equal opportunity employer, the Leibniz-HKI is committed to increase the percentage of female scientists and therefore especially encourages them to apply.
