More specifically, we have recently described that the alarmin heme induces persisting adaptations of myelopoiesis altering the host response to and disease course of polymicrobial sepsis. For further information please read here (PNAS, Frontiers). This research project is following these findings and the researcher will investigate prevailing phenotypes in innate immune training. The project encompasses in vivo and in vitro infections, immunology techniques such as bone marrow transplantations and conventional molecular biology.

  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented working attitude

  • Desirable methodological skills: excellent background and expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology and/or microbiology, animal models

  • Outstanding track record of planning, performing, and publishing original research

  • Fluency in English

We offer:

  • An interesting, interdisciplinary project in the field of infection biology/immunology/host microbe interaction with a long-term work contract

  • State-of-the-art equipment at an internationally renowned research institute in close cooperation with the Jena University Hospital
