The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology (Leibniz-HKI) investigates the pathobiology of microorganisms and develops novel natural product-based anti-infectives. The Leibniz-HKI invites talented and highly qualified candidates to apply for a position as aPostdoctoral Researcher (m/w/div) in Immunology of fungal infections
for two years initially.
Your tasks:
The successful candidate will investigate how the immune system responds to infection with the human pathogenic yeast Candida albicans. The goal is to identify and characterize the pathways that are dysfunctional in vulvovaginal candidiasis leading to immunopathology and more severe symptoms.
We seek applications from highly committed postdoctoral researchers with an outstanding scientific track record. Candidates with background in microbiology, immunology, or biochemistry and enthusiasm for both translational science as well as molecular mechanisms are welcome to apply.
The Emmy Noether Junior Research Group Adaptive Pathogenicity Strategies of Dr. Mark S. Gresnigt is integrated into the Leibniz-HKI, embedded in an outstanding scientific environment with state-of-the-art research facilities and top equipment. The successful candidate is expected to actively collaborate within our interdisciplinary research community. She/he/they will be encouraged to participate in the structured postdoctoral program of the JSMC (Jena School for Microbial Communication).
We expect:

A PhD (or equivalent) in the Life Sciences, preferably in microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, or related disciplines.

An excellent track record in your research area as well as successful interdisciplinary cooperation

The ability to work team-oriented as well as creatively and independently

An integrative personality with enthusiasm for actively participating in the dynamic Leibniz-HKI community

Practical experience in analysis of large datasets / transcriptomics is advantageous
